The increase of SSL/TLS traffic indicates that organizations are more and more focused on safeguarding the integrity of the data that flows through their Internet-facing applications. However, the concurrent growth of malware hidden within that encrypted traffic is cause for concern. Without visibility into your SSL/TLS traffic, you’ll have some serious blind spots in your security, and these blind spots could lead to financial losses, data breaches, and damage to your corporate reputation. That’s why it’s essential to regain visibility into that encrypted traffic and allow your malware-scanning and prevention devices to protect your apps and your network. The most efficient way to get that visibility is by orchestrating your outbound SSL/TLS traffic. With a robust SSL/TLS orchestration solution, you’ll enjoy better visibility, increased performance, and more flexibility—so you can stop worrying about hidden malware and focus on developing and supporting new apps to drive your business

Existing security controls are outmatched — at best static and reactive. Current layers likely aren’t protecting you against all attack vectors, like the vulnerable back door that is recursive DNS. And security mechanisms that frustrate, impede, or disallow legitimate users, devices, or applications will have low adoption rates and/or will curtail productivity. Benign users may even circumvent these processes, further undermining your corporate security posture and creating more gaps in your defense-in- depth strategy. One of the many use cases associated with a zero trust security strategy is protecting your network — and most importantly, your data — from malware.

Your users, especially when working outside of the office, no longer need to always connect to the corporate network to get work done. They often connect directly to SaaS apps. And, let’s face it, employees also don’t turn on the VPN if they’re using their work laptop for personal use — which means they’re left with very little security protection. Plus, many organizations are now using direct internet connections at branch offices, which means employees and guest users don’t get the protection of your traditional security stack. Not only are more offices connecting directly to the internet — it’s estimated that 70% of branch offices already have some direct internet access — but attackers recognize these weak points in their targets and have started exploiting them more. To solve these new challenges, security controls must also shift to the cloud. This in-depth white paper describes how security must evolve to protect users anywhere they access the internet.

Can your organization afford to wait until after an attack happens to protect your users and your data? Perimeter security provides visibility and control for employee activity only when employees remain on a corporate network. What about roaming users who bypass the VPN? Or employees working in cloud applications? Web gateways only protect employees from threats over web ports 80 and 443. Today’s security must provide comprehensive protection across all ports and protocols to fill the gaps in the security stack. Hear from Eric Ahlm, Research Director at Gartner and Meg Diaz, Head of Product Marketing for Cisco Umbrella. Eric and Meg will address the challenges companies face as they compare modern convenience with the known risks of relinquishing visibility and control, especially as more sensitive data moves to the cloud. Join us for the guidance you need to stay ahead of the curve in 2018. We’ll discuss the right answer for protecting data in the digital age.

Attacks have many phases. Before launching, the attacker needs to stage internet infrastructure to support each phase. Two early phases are to redirect or link to a malicious web domain or send a malicious email attachment. For the former, most attacks leverage exploit kits (e.g. Angler) as the first stage before dropping the final payload. Cisco Umbrella effectively blocks initial exploit and phishing domains. Unlike appliances, our cloud security platform protects devices both on and off the corporate network. Unlike agents, the DNS layer protection extends to every device connected to the network — even IoT. Umbrella truly is the easiest and fastest layer of security to deploy everywhere. Like many highly distributed businesses, CEFCO Convenience Stores realized that its long-term growth depended on delivering a consistently positive customer experience across its network of 225 stores in the Southeastern U.S. The company also knew it could achieve that goal only by embracing innovative new technologies. Even with a clear strategic vision in place, CEFCO faced a common dilemma: How to innovate with a relatively limited budget, small corporate IT staff, and no in-store IT personnel. To overcome these challenges, the company turned to a solution based on the Cybera® Network Services Platform.

Most large companies have already made investments in tools that make video webcasting possible. Video is the most vibrant and intimate medium that executives can use to convey information to large, far-flung internal audiences. Video helps keep employees on the same page about company branding, strategic direction, and externally-facing stories and messaging. It facilitates the transparency and authenticity that today’s employees demand. CEOs of large, global corporations are frequently the catalyst for enterprise live streaming because they know they can use it to make a powerful and personal connection with tens of thousands of remote employees—efficiently and cost-effectively. They support using technology to foster communication and transparency, leading to a more engaged, productive workforce. They recognize the power of video. And they see how engaged, satisfied employees can collectively strengthen their company’s competitive advantage and enhance their bottom line. If your CEO

Today’s workforce is increasingly nomadic. Employees use personal and company-owned devices desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones with various operating systems to access corporate resources over different networks from virtually anywhere. Roaming users and cloud-based applications have eroded the network perimeter where enterprises have traditionally focused their security controls. In the wake of this disruption, vendors offered myriad point products that solve only a portion of the security problem. These products usually require costly custom integrations and high management overhead to boot. Making matters worse, traditional security approaches can’t address an evolving threat landscape that includes ransomware, stealthy attacks that dwell in a customer’s environment for months, and threats targeting iOS and Android devices. In fact, the mobile workforce is more vulnerable than ever before.

How to think about the risk to data from the mobile ecosystem Mobile devices, even those that are corporate owned, are personal. Your CEO uses the same smartphone to send confidential emails, snap family photos, inspect customer records, get directions to meetings, and scrutinize financial reports. Every employee in your organization does the same thing. Your organization's critical data is constantly being accessed by mobile devices, and once it leaves the network you have no visibility into where it goes, and little or no ability to enforce your security policy to protect it. Your organization’s sensitive data has made the mobile ecosystem the new frontier for a wide spectrum of risk that every CISO must now understand. Take a deep dive into all twelve elements of the Mobile Risk Matrix in the interactive table below.

When Barracuda first engaged with Rohde & Schwarz Cybersecurity in 2007, enterprises were more concerned about the unauthorized use of Skype, other P2P applications and instant messaging. Although the need for application control and awareness remains, enterprise concerns are shifting to securing enterprise applications hosted in private and public clouds, protecting east-west data center traffic and preventing unwanted traffic and malware on the corporate network.

When your solution needs deep packet inspection (DPI) application awareness as a key enabling feature, highly reliable and accurate identification of network traffic and applications - in real time - is an expected requirement. Whether it’s for software defined networks to enable policy control and critical traffic steering or to protect corporate networks, IoT devices, and cloud platforms from malicious attacks, it’s crucial to choose the right DPI solution.

In the not so distant past, the way we worked looked very different. Most work was done in an office, on desktops that were always connected to the corporate network. The applications and infrastructure that we used sat behind a firewall. Branch offices would backhaul traffic to headquarters, so they would get the same security protection. The focus from a security perspective was to secure the network perimeter. Today, that picture has changed a great deal.
