This assessment shows that enterprises adopt Red Hat Fuse because they believe in a community-based open source approach to integration for modernizing their integration infrastructure that delivers strong ROI. For these organizations, Fuse was part of a larger digital transformation initiative and was also used to modernize integration. IDC interviewed organizations using Fuse to integrate important business applications across their heterogeneous IT environments. These Red Hat customers reported that Fuse has enabled them to complete substantially more integrations at a higher quality level, thereby supporting their efforts to deliver timely and functional applications and digital services. Efficiencies in application integration with Fuse have generated significant value for study participants, which IDC quantifies at an average value of $75,453 per application integrated per year ($985,600 per organization). They have attained this value by: » Enabling more efficient and effectiv

The bar for success is rising in higher education.  University leaders and IT administrators are aware of the compelling benefits of digital transformation overall—and artificial intelligence (AI) in particular. AI can amplify human capabilities by using machine learning, or deep learning, to convert the fast-growing and plentiful sources of data about all aspects of a university into actionable insights that drive better decisions. But when planning a transformational strategy, these leaders must prioritize operational continuity. It’s critical to protect the everyday activities of learning, research, and administration that rely on the IT infrastructure to consistently deliver data to its applications.

Midsized firms operate in the same hypercompetitive, digital environment as large enterprises—but with fewer technical and budget resources to draw from. That’s why it is essential for IT leaders to leverage best-practice processes and models that can help them support strategic business goals such as agility, innovation, speed-tomarket, and always-on business operations. A hybrid IT implementation can provide the infrastructure flexibility to support the next generation of high-performance, data-intensive applications. A hybrid foundation can also facilitate new, collaborative processes that bring together IT and business stakeholders.

What does a digital transformation look like? It varies from organization to organization, of course, since they have invested in countless systems and applications over the years. Digital transformation consists of building new applications and next-generation architectures on today’s open standards, using on-demand resources. For many organizations, digital transformation also means optimizing existing systems and application resources – integrating, replacing, or abstracting key pieces of their infrastructures into services.

Mobile devices have brought advancements to virtually all aspects of modern life and have had transformative effects on businesses spanning all industries. However, the positive business effects that can be brought about by mobility and "going digital" are not enjoyed as frequently within small and midsize businesses (SMBs) as they are within larger organizations. While potential benefits are there, small and midmarket organizations may have fewer resources available and can find difficulty in realizing the full value of the enterprise mobility infrastructure. Often, organizations find themselves having to make trade-offs between richness of functionality and available resources.

No matter your line of business, technology implemented four years ago is likely near its end of life and may be underperforming as more users and more strenuous workloads stretch your resources thin. Adding memory and upgrading processors won't provide the same benefits to your infrastructure as a consolidation and upgrade can. Read this research report to learn how upgrading to Dell's PowerEdge VRTX with Hyper-V virtualization, Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2, and Microsoft SQL Server 2014 could reduce costs while delivering better performance than trying to maintain aging hardware and software.

A related recent development in the data center is converged infrastructure (CI). Instead of the traditional silo deployment approach to storage, compute, and network resources, all infrastructure elements are delivered and managed in a single environment, providing virtualized access to business services in an efficient manner. This is particularly suitable for cloud-based delivery models. However, since CI achieves lower costs through optimization of data center resources, it can be effective for all IT organizations, regardless of the way in which the services are managed or presented.

Today’s IT leaders don’t have the time nor the resources to effectively respond to the needs of their ever-demanding workforce. It’s time for CIOs to stop running the IT department and start transforming the business; only through transforming the way in which they deploy and service the workforce can CIOs accomplish this paramount task. Organizations must now embrace a future that improves the workforce experience in order to offload cumbersome and time-intensive tasks. With IT becoming more integrated and a strategic partner to the lines of business (LOBs), offloading and embracing new technologies that enable employee experience is a logical step. In September 2018, Dell commissioned Forrester Consulting to evaluate the effectiveness of PC-as-a-service (PCaaS) and the appetite of organizations to use PCaaS. Forrester conducted five interviews with IT decision makers, with knowledge of desktop infrastructure, or those who had responsibility with PC life cycle services to explore this

As organizations continue to virtualize their infrastructures to gain higher levels of operational efficiency, VM sprawl and resource utilization are two key factors that can quickly create havoc for IT admins. In resource-siloed infrastructures, where multiple administrators are in charge of different pieces of the infrastructure, complexity continues to grow as mission-critical data sets and organizations grow. This is especially true in dynamic, mission-critical environments, where one wrong move or lack thereof could significantly impact an application, the end-user experience, or worst case, company revenue. The impact of hyper-converged infrastructures on IT has been profound. In fact, 85% of respondents to a recent ESG survey already use or plan to use a hyper-converged solution in the coming months. Though that number appears high, it is not all that surprising. ESG also asked organizations to identify which factors drove them to deploy or considering deploying a hyper-conv

According to recent ESG research, 70% of IT respondents indicated they plan to invest in HCI over the next 24 months. IT planners are increasingly turning toward HyperConverged Infrastructure (HCI) solutions to simplify and speed up infrastructure deployments, ease day-to-day operational management, reduce costs, and increase IT speed and agility. HCI consists of a nodal-based architecture whereby all the required virtualized compute, storage, and networking assets are self-contained inside individual nodes. These nodes are, in effect, discrete virtualized computing resources “in a box.” However, they are typically grouped together to provide resiliency, high performance, and flexible resource pooling. And since HCI appliances can scale out to large configurations over time, these systems can provide businesses with investment protection and a simpler, more agile, and cost-effective way to deploy virtualized computing infrastructure. Read this paper to learn more.
