Cloud services are a pillar of a digital transformation, but they have also become a thorn in the side of many security architects. As data and applications that were once behind the enterprise firewall began roaming free—on smartphones, between Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices, and in the cloud—the threat landscape expanded rapidly. Security architects scrambled to adjust their technologies, policies, and procedures. But just when they thought they had a handle on securing their cloud-connected enterprises, new business imperatives indicated that one cloud wasn’t enough. Modern enterprises operate in a multi-cloud world, where the threat landscape has reached a new level of complexity. Security teams are juggling a hodgepodge of policies, threat reports, and management tools. When each cloud operates in its own silo, the security architect has even more difficulty supporting the CISO or CIO with a coherent, defensible security posture.

Fortinet’s 2018 Security Implications of Digital Transformation Survey looks at the state of cybersecurity in organizations around the world from the lens of digital transformation (DX). Three hundred responses from CISOs and CSOs at large organizations helped us identify several current trends: n Digital transformation is the most impactful IT trend on businesses today, with 92% responding that it has a large impact today. n Security is by far the biggest challenge to DX efforts, with 85% of respondents saying it has a large impact. n The typical organization saw four attacks that resulted in data loss, outages, or compliance events over two years. n Many companies have automated some of their security procedures, but they are even further behind with other security best practices. n Big chunks of infrastructure remain vulnerable in the typical organization, with 25% of the infrastructure not adequately protected at the typical organization. Looking more deeply into the data, we ident

Enterprise chief information security officers (CISOs) are seeking ways to leverage existing security investments to bridge the divide between largely siloed security systems. The focus is on reducing the number of consoles needed to manage the security infrastructure. Network security vendors have a significant role to play in bridging the communication gap between these systems. The creation of a unified defense architecture enables threat data exchange between existing security systems. It helps automate the process of raising an organization's security posture when a security infrastructure component detects a threat. The following questions were posed by Fortinet to Robert Ayoub, program director in IDC's Security Products program, on behalf of Fortinet's customers.

Robotic Process Automation was born with the vision of empowering business users to create software bots that could interact with enterprise systems just like humans. Its benefits include substantial time and cost savings, improved customer satisfaction, increased workforce morale, and the ability to build a competitive advantage over competitors. But to fully realize all these benefits, it’s important for businesses to select a solution with a robust RPA security architecture that supports core principles, such as least privileges and separation of duties while delivering end-to-end protection for the critical apps and sensitive data involved. This paper provides an overview of the industry’s highest standard for enterprise-grade security as demonstrated by the market’s leading Digital Workforce platform, Automation Anywhere Enterprise.

Security leaders have been in front of boards and executive committees long enough to know that security metrics that simply portray statistics from monitoring tools, or count the number of malware attacks, add relatively little value to strategy and budget decisions. Protecting sensitive customer and company data shouldn’t be just a compliance obligation, it should be a business imperative. This is exactly why the right technology partners will help push security, risk, and compliance objectives forward. In March 2019, Dell commissioned Forrester Consulting to evaluate the evolving security trends and technology needed to protect and enable employees. Our study found that empowering employees while adhering to security protocols improves employee productivity. Forrester conducted an online survey of 887 senior business and IT decision makers to explore this topic. Learn more about Dell solutions powered by Intel®.

Most CIOs today understand that digital transformation initiatives can help streamline business process; boost ef?ciency; increase competitiveness; and, broadly, help their organization become disruptive over the long term. Some of the transformation initiatives under way—even in many pace-setting companies—are struggling to manage the exponential explosion of unstructured data and the associated heightened compliance and security demands, however. Fortunately, new solutions that tap arti?cial intelligence (AI) can extract hidden insights from unstructured data, such as documents, images, videos, and audio ?les. AI is also helping automate many of the labor-intensive processes used to classify, organize, and analyze unstructured content

The personal cloud is the most persistent data loss threat to the enterprise today because many employees use their own cloud services to store work documents. Traditionally, content security solutions functionally link security and storage which requires the migration of work documents to a new content storage repository in order to enforce security policies. This increases complexity by creating more repositories for the enterprise to manage. Most importantly, this approach does not solve the personal cloud problem because individual users continue to store their work documents, for convenience, in cloud services that IT cannot secure.

Existing security controls are outmatched — at best static and reactive. Current layers likely aren’t protecting you against all attack vectors, like the vulnerable back door that is recursive DNS. And security mechanisms that frustrate, impede, or disallow legitimate users, devices, or applications will have low adoption rates and/or will curtail productivity. Benign users may even circumvent these processes, further undermining your corporate security posture and creating more gaps in your defense-in- depth strategy. One of the many use cases associated with a zero trust security strategy is protecting your network — and most importantly, your data — from malware.

Employees, devices, and applications are no longer locked away inside the corporate perimeter. They’re on the web and on the go. Providing security for a new breed of anytime, anywhere workers and cloud-based applications requires a novel approach: a zero trust security model. Assuming that every user, request, and server is untrusted until proven otherwise, a zero trust solution dynamically and continually assesses trust every time a user or device requests access to a resource. But zero trust offers more than a line of defense. The model’s security benefits deliver considerable business value, too. Read this white paper to learn more about: -Protecting your customers’ data -Decreasing the time to breach detection -Gaining visibility into your enterprise traffic -Reducing the complexity of your security stack -Solving the security skills shortage -Optimizing the end-user experience -Facilitating the move to the cloud

Data security is a top concern these days. In a world of privacy regulation, intellectual property theft, and cybercrime, ensuring data security and protecting sensitive enterprise data is crucial. Only a data masking solution can secure vital data and enable outsourcing, third-party analysis, and cloud deployments. But more often than not, masking projects fail. Some of the best data masking tools bottleneck processes and once masked, data is hard to move and manage across the application development lifecycle.

High-profile data breaches continue to make headlines as organizations struggle to manage information security in the face of rapidly changing applications, data centers, and the cloud. Against this backdrop, data masking has emerged as one of the most effective ways to protect sensitive test data from insider and outsider threats alike. While masking is now the de facto standard for protecting non-production data, implementing it alongside virtual data technologies has elevated its effectiveness even further.
