The business intelligence (BI) “boom” of the 1990s was something BIG: big projects designed to give big companies with big budgets a competitive advantage. And while BI delivered big returns for some companies, for others it was nothing but a big headache. An estimated 50% of all data warehousing projects failed to meet their goals. Why? Because many companies underestimated just how big an undertaking BI really was.

Since the SQL Access Group created the Call Level Interface, ODBC has become the most ubiquitous method for connecting to relational database sources. ODBC was developed to allow programmers to access relational data in a uniform manner, regardless of the database backend. ODBC translates those generic commands into the specific esoteric commands of the database backend, so the quality of the driver directly determines the performance of the database connectivity layer. The greatest threat to enterprise data security comes from inside threats. Securing the enterprise requires an understanding of the data leak points, environment, people, and processes for managing sensitive information. This white paper explains how network-based and endpoint-based solutions can work together to provide the broadest protection available while ensuring scalability and manageability, and that employee productivity is not impacted.

This Webroot whitepaper compares deploying secure web gateways as software or appliances on-premises vs. as a cloud-based service. Lower cost, fast implementation, rapid scalability and less administration are all good reasons to adopt SaaS and cloud-based applications. In addition to these benefits, cloud-based secure web gateways can also provide better security and faster performance than appliances or local servers. It discusses a number of advantages of cloud-based solutions that appliances cannot match, such as: • Better defense against zero-day threats and spam servers • More comprehensive signature and URL database • Supports remote users more securely and without the cost of putting servers in every location

Successful mobile apps, especially enterprise mobile apps, typically need to interact with a well-architected set of back-end services, but most mobile app developers are more skilled at client-side front-end development. Enter mobile back-end-as-a-service (BaaS), a new set of hosted platforms that addresses the gap between front-end development proficiency and back-end infrastructure requirements. Enterprise-class back-end-as-a-service addresses scalability while providing an integration platform into existing enterprise services. Use this research as your guidebook to navigating the emerging BaaS landscape.

The introduction of e-mail and its exponential expansion into every aspect of business life presented a significant challenge to the fax industry and for some observers it was a foregone conclusion that fax was destined for a rapid demise. It is interesting to note, therefore, that fax has actually continued on a steady growth path that is predicted to continue well into the future.

The most recent decade has seen rapid advances in connectivity, mobility, analytics, scalability, and data, spawning what has been called the fourth industrial revolution, or Industry 4.0. This fourth industrial revolution has digitalized operations and resulted in transformations in manufacturing efficiency, supply chain performance, product innovation, and in some cases enabled entirely new business models. This transformation should be top of mind for quality leaders, as quality improvement and monitoring are among the top use cases for Industry 4.0. Quality 4.0 is closely aligning quality management with Industry 4.0 to enable enterprise efficiencies, performance, innovation and business models. However, much of the market isn’t focusing on Quality 4.0, since many quality teams are still trying to solve yesterday’s problems: inefficiency caused by fragmented systems, manual metrics calculations, quality teams independently performing quality work with minimal cross-functional own

The late 1990s marked AXA Bank’s foray into email marketing. For the first phase of this project, AXA Bank management decided to use a bulk email tool to push Web content to customers. However, this tool rapidly showed its limitations in terms of scalability and functionality. No personalization, tracking or reporting functionality was available, and many operations (such as list management) had to be performed outside the tool, by hand. Marketing teams also required constant IT support, especially as email volumes increased.  By 2002, ready for a more sophisticated approach, the bank sought to personalize and expand its online marketing to improve effectiveness.
