Imagine a world where green, renewable sources are supplying most or all of the energy needed for every purpose: lighting, heating, processes, and transportation. Imagine that energy consumers are able to proactively choose which energy source they want to consume. Imagine an electricity supply that is completely reliable. Imagine a typical business or institution spends much less on their energy consumption, or actually generates revenue from it.

Advancing technology, investment incentives, and sustainability imperatives argue strongly for complete industrial lighting retrofits. Industrial facilities that upgrade lighting technology today can reap immediate benefits in worker safety, productivity, quality improvement and carbon emission reduction – with substantial energy cost savings accelerated by local utility rebates and federal tax incentives.

More and more, utilities are choosing demand response (DR) as a way to balance grid operations, lower energy prices for consumers, and integrate renewable resources like solar power. Utilities have traditionally relied on large commercial customers to achieve those results. Yet residential customers represent a huge, untapped DR resource. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) estimates that utilities can deliver 65GW of peak reduction in the residential sector — equivalent to $3 billion worth of annual capacity. But, despite heavy investment, current residential DR programs engage less than 5% of homes and fall far short of FERC’s estimates of achievable potential.

We harness Shell gas-to-liquids (GTL) technology to create high-purity process oils that open exciting opportunities for your products and operations. Conventional process oils are derived from crude oil, whereas Shell Risella X and Shell Ondina X are made from pure synthesis gas. That frees them from the impurities and large molecular variations found in mineral oils. Using GTL process oils could enhance your processes and final products to give you a competitive advantage. [478] Have you ever experienced product quality issues caused by variations in process oil batches? Do you need a low-viscosity process oil, but have concerns about the effect of volatiles on working conditions? Could you offer enhanced products if you had process oils with distinct characteristics, for example, an extremely narrow hydrocarbon distribution range? Our GTL process oils contain a high proportion of paraffinic hydrocarbons and are very pure, which provides key qualities for many applications. For in

You’ve heard the stories: a large Internet company exposing all three billion of its customer accounts; a major hotel chain compromising five hundred million customer records; and one of the big-three credit reporting agencies exposing more than 143 million records, leading to a 25 percent loss in value and a $439 million hit. At the time, all of these companies had security mechanisms in place. They had trained professionals on the job. They had invested heavily in protection. But the reality is that no amount of investment in preventative technologies can fully eliminate the threat of savvy attackers, malicious insiders, or inadvertent victims of phishing. Breaches are rising, and so are their cost. In 2018, the average cost of a data breach rose 6.4 percent to $3.86 million, and the cost of a “mega breach,” those defined as losing 1 million to 50 million records, carried especially punishing price tags between $40 million and $350 million.2 Despite increasing investment in security

Despite massive spend to protect enterprise digital assets, security breaches are still on the rise. The disconnect between the level of investment and the volume and impact of attacks is largely attributed to outdated approaches that favor perimeter protection and point solutions despite a digital supply chain that is more distributed than ever. For these reasons and more, enterprises need to start thinking differently about cybersecurity. Security doesn’t need new products. It needs a new model. One that applies the principles of intrinsic security across the fabric of the organization, from the sales floor to the C-suite, from the infrastructure to the endpoint device. In this Essential Guidance executive brief, learn how intrinsic security differs from traditional security methods, and the steps CIOs need to take to operationalize this model for greater business agility without greater risk.

Payments is an increasingly strategic area of focus for enterprises, impacting market expansion, customer experience, business model evolution and, ultimately, revenue growth. As the role of payments in business strategy continues to expand, enterprises need secure, reliable and scalable infrastructure to underpin their transaction acceptance and processing capabilities. Stripe commissioned 451 Research to understand how large enterprise-scale merchants are thinking through their online payments infrastructure requirements. 451 Research surveyed 800 merchants across 8 countries, including a mix of business decision-makers from payments to finance to IT. KEY FINDINGS • 87% of mid- and large-sized businesses surveyed use the cloud as their dominant payments environment. • Nearly two-thirds of respondents using the public cloud for payments have seen improvements in security, innovation and uptime, while nearly three in five cited improved scalability. • Respondents using public-cloud-

Operational resilience is high on the regulatory agenda in the UK. A joint discussion paper in 2018 took a broader view of operational resilience to cover all risks to the provision of critical business services with a greater emphasis on recovery and response when incidents occur. Regulators now place the same importance on operational resilience as on financial resilience. This represents a fundamental shift that companies are at different stages of addressing. Based on discussions with clients and regulators here are ten conversations to help guide you through this new landscape.

Banking is rapidly being transformed by one, distinct theme: digital technology. For those leading the charge, there is no longer a distinction between a business strategy and a technology strategy. There is just strategy driven by technology and the client needs it will evolve to continually meet. In this new world, upgrading existing operations and making legacy systems fit new challenges is not going to be enough. To succeed, banks need to become future-ready, connected enterprises, backed by a new type of technology and operating model that is nimble enough to adapt to new challenges and growth opportunities.
